Coventry Foundation
2022-2023 Scholarship Recipient
Name: Anthony Maguschak

Not long after we started the Foundation, it became clear that one of our primary goals should include a focus on the next generation of enthusiast. Founding BOD member and past JCNA President Gary Hagopian took on the challenge as his personal project and started considering how we should approach finding and supporting the next generation. It did not take Gary very long to begin considering institutions of higher education and in particular those that provided a degree in auto restoration for us to work with. He eventually found, visited, and proposed that we support the Pennsylvania College of Technology with an annual scholarship. It was recommended that we approach this thru an endowment that once paid would continue to grow in value, and provide a scholarship annually to a student of the restoration program, forever.

I am pleased to report that we have now completely funded our first endowment and have in addition provided one student during each of the past 5 years with the Coventry Foundation Scholarship. Our current recipient, Anthony Maguschak has worked hard this year and part of last on one of the Foundation donated vehicles, a S3 E-Type Coupe. Many of the parts for this project were donated by SNG Barratt. Anthony is a young man who has done some great work on our car, and has had many phone consultations with President George Camp. George has been impressed with Anthony each time they talked. He has already completed his Associate Degree in Automotive Technology and is finishing his certificate program for Auto Restoration. He is from Weatherly, PA, and is a member of the Weatherly Hillclimb Association and an Eagle Scout. On Saturday April 23, Amos Kunkle and I attended the annual car show held on the college campus and picked up the E-Type at the end of the show. It was a really good day, spending time with Amos, the students, and others who brought their cars to the show. As always the campus is very well maintained as are the workshops and classrooms for the various curriculum taught there. Visiting the college and spending time with students and teachers is always one of the highlights of my year.
