Amanns Donation

Shortly after attending the celebration of life event in memory of Dr. Gerald Mitchell in Limestone Tennessee, I received a communication from Abram (AW) Amanns who also lives in Tennessee regarding the possible donation of his XJS. Always excited about the donation of another car that can be added to our permanent collection, we talked. One of my favorite things about being involved with the foundation is the people I have the good fortune to communicate with, and AW, like others, was no exception. Once we got down to talking about the car in question, I realized that this donation was very special. The XJS in question was really a 1993 XJR-S V12, one of 100 versions of this very special high performance model to be built. There were 50 convertibles, and 50 fixed head versions made. AW owned and enjoyed the car for around 15 years, recently had a few issues with it, and decided it was time for it to move to a new home. Foundation President George Camp made arrangements with AW to pick up the car and move it back to the foundation library/research center in Columbia SC where he could take care of the mechanical gremlins the car had. Now running well and available for viewing and research in Columbia, this very special Jaguar has become one of our prized cars. We are grateful to AW and his wife for making this donation, and allowing us to be the keeper of this fine automobile. We also are looking forward to an upcoming visit to the foundation Library from AW and Mrs. Amanns.
